Does Oil contain silicone?

Oil contains a single D2, water-soluble silicone called dimethicone to meet our performance standards for shine (high) and weight (low). Not all silicones are created equal. There are different classes of silicones, with a low or high molecular weight. This distinction is important when understanding silicones, in particular dimethicone. Dimethicone is an inert and non-toxic compound that softens hair and contributes to easier spreading and application. (It's used in many skincare products, too, because it's non-comedogenic.) It has a low molecular weight, which means that rather than having an occlusive effect and creating a barrier, it acts more like an emollient, helping to restore the natural barrier function. The silicone substitutes Oil contains include isodecane to protect from moisture loss, Ecocert-certified coconut alkanes (with similar light-reflecting properties to silicone) and heptyl undecylenate derived from castor oil.

Will Oil make my hair greasy?
